The Shanghai International Children's Cultural & Art Festival 2014, now in full swing, features diverse and colorful activities and is permeated with joy and laughter. The children from around the world revel in the pageant as they get on the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, visit the Huangpu River, roam the city, taste delicacies and enjoy the gala.

July 28 the Children's Tour around Shanghai

In the Yu Garden, the children tasted the savor of the Old Shanghai. By visiting the ancient Chinese garden, tasting Chinese cuisine, sipping Chinese tea and enjoying Chinese operas, they were allowed a glimpse at the glamor of the Chinese traditional culture. Through a bird's eye view over the entire city on the vantage point of the Oriental Pearl Tower and a cruise tour for sightseeing the breathtaking view of both sides along the Huangpu River, they were able to sense the rapid changes taking place in the urban development of Shanghai.

July 29 Community Get-together

At CWI Children's Palace, Pudong Youth & Children's Center and Minhang District Public Art Gallery, the children from across the world held get-together joint performances through which the distance was narrowed and friendship promoted. In addition, the children also had a try of China's special folk art items like Chinese calligraphy, inscription rubbing, paper arts, butterfly arts, Beijing Opera facial makeup and Chinese Kung Fu.

Some of the children even had the experience of"Being a Shanghai Kid for Half a Day"in Shanghai households in an attempt to have a taste of the community culture of Shanghai. During their stay, they learned to make wontons, sing the Shanghai Opera, draw Chinese paintings, practice the tea ceremony, etc. And William, an 11-year-old boy from New Zealand, said excitedly,"Shanghai is so beautiful and the Festival so great. There are a lot of friendly little buddies here and delicious food as well. I hope to come here again!"
