Little Companion Art Troupe of the CWI Children's Palace Joined the Opening Performance of China Shanghai International Arts Festival 2017

On the evening of October 20, 2017, the 19th China Shanghai International Arts Festival witnessed its grand opening in Shanghai Grand Theatre. The festival this year coincided with the opening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The grand choral symphony "the Revival" created by the young composer Gong Tianpeng in Shanghai was specially launched for the opening performance. Nearly a hundred young performers from Little Companion Art Troupe and Shanghai Youth Choir of the CWI Children's Palace were invited to join hands with Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and Shanghai Opera House Choirto pay the tribute to the opening of the 19th National Congress of the CPC with famous singers including Prof. Liao Changyong, Han Peng and Xu Lei by singing out voice of the era under the conductor Tang Muhai.


The curtain was pulled open with children’s heavenly humming. The beautiful voice of the children accompanied by melodious music was like a beam of light in the darkness, injecting hope and strength intopeople’s heart. In the Fifth Movement, the young singers stood on the stage again to sing out with intense emotions along with the passionate music. The magnificent symphony and the passionate singing worked together as a duo to enhance each other’s beauty andpurify the soul, leading the audience to set sail for agreat Chinese Dream. The performance finally closed in the unfailing warm applause.


To the children, this performance was not only an artistic practice opportunity full of challenges and self-improvement, but also a patriotic education class with profound significance. “When I was singing‘the bright moon over Tianshan, the morning sun of the East China Sea, the picturesque and poetic landscape; Oh, my beautiful home, beautiful motherland’”, said the young singer Jiang Yu with thrill after the performance, “The feeling of beautiful China and proud China sprang from my heart spontaneously! I wanted to send my best wishes to our motherland with the most beautiful singing!” The young member Li Yifei also said excitedly, "I feel immensely proud to live in such a peaceful era. I was so lucky to stand on a professional stage and express my love for the motherland through the classical symphonic work loved by the world."


In the performance, members of Shanghai Youth Choir and Little Companion Art Troupe demonstrated their brilliant art style and the youthful and enterprising spirituality as Shanghai teenagers with exquisite techniques and charming smiles. Theypaid a tribute to agrand arts event with enthusiasm and made positive contributions to promoting vigorous development of artistic creation as well as popularizing traditional Chinese culture.
