Better Lifestyles for Children

The winter vacation of 2018 began on January 26. Early in the morning, the Shanghai Exhibition Center was crowded with thousands of parents and children who came to attend the 2018 Shanghai International Children's Lifestyle Expo, co-sponsored by China Welfare Institute (CWI), People's Government of Jing'an District and Shanghai Exhibition Center (Group) Co., Ltd., which was a heart-warming gift to the children in the cold winter. With the theme of "Better Life, Better Future", the exhibition aimed to advocate a scientific and healthy children lifestyle and parenting philosophy, explore innovative ideas, bring high-quality resources from all walks of life together including CWI, and foster an interactive and sharing platform for the development of healthy lifestyles for modern children.


Wang Jiarui, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC, Chairman of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and CWI, Li Yiping, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal People's Political Consultative Conference, Jiang Liang, Vice Chairman of CWI, and Hu Peiyan, Vice Minister of Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Committee attended the opening ceremony and jointly opened with children’s representatives a book of lifestyle philosophies that symbolized a new chapter of a beautiful life.


The three-day exhibition attracted more than 100 exhibitors from home and abroad to showcase and exchange ideas on children's health, education, scientific innovation, culture and environmental protection. From intangible cultural heritage, parent-child reading and green finance to “I love sports”, aviation dreams and travel logs, the designs of each exhibition space were full of fun and interactivity, which allowed children to experience joy, acquire knowledge and develop interest. The exhibition also cooperated with the Site of the First National Congress of the CPC and other organizations to set up an interactive revolutionary history education gallery, so that the red memory of Shanghai can be integrated in the cultivation of children's beautiful minds about life.


Theme forums and roundtable interviews were held on the opening day, in which Ge Jianxiong, Professor of Fudan University and Member of History Department of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Ren Youqun, Professor of East China Normal University and Secretary-General of the Educational Informatization Expert Group of the Ministry of Education, Yang Xiong, Director of the Institute of Sociology of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Huang Doudou, a great dancer and national Class-A actor, and Laura Locke, Co-chairman of the Accreditation Committee of the Montessori Institute of the United States conducted wonderful and enthusiastic exchange and sharing on the inheritance of traditional Chinese culture, children's comprehensive quality cultivation in the new era, and Chinese children in the international community.


There were over 10 sub-forums on health, culture and education. Experts and scholars from the CWI and all fields of society focused on the "Comprehensive Childhood Obesity Prevention", "Children's Basic Rights Guarantee and Protection", "How to Enlighten Exceptional Children with Drama", "Growing up with Hobbies", and "Advice for Grandparents on Retirement Life" and other hot social and educational topics, providing scientific concepts and useful practical guidance for the audience.


At the same time, the organizers adhered to the principle of public welfare and provided preferential family fares. One Yuan will be donated from each ticket to support disabled children. Zhao Danni, Vice Chairman, Secretary of leading Party group and Secretary-General of CWI, said, "Shanghai International Children's Lifestyle Expo will continue to assemble high-quality resources of all parties and fully play the roles of leading social trends, caring for children, serving the society and every family, and enriching the quality of life. It provides a new platform for domestic and foreign exhibitors to display and exchange children's lifestyles in areas of education, reading, entertainment, health and fitness and sports."
