| On March 29th, a delegation of 115 teachers and students from Punahou School of Hawaii, the United States, paid a visit to the CWI Children’s Palace for performance and exchange with the Little Companion Art Troupe. Wang Luning, Vice Chairwoman of CWI, gave a warm reception to the friends coming from the other side of the Pacific Ocean. To welcome the guests from afar, Little Companion Art Troupe presented programs with ethnic features that have been meticulously prepared. The students from US were greatly impressed by the melodious fluting and riveting singing, with lasting applause bursting out from time to time. Then, the orchestra from Punahou School performed Serenade for Strings, Op. 48, a popular piece of classical music composed by Tchaikovsky, and a Chinese folk version of Moonlight Sonata composed and adapted for the visit. Listening to the brisk music and watching the graceful Hawaiian Hula Dance, everyone smiled happily, getting immersed in the overwhelming aura that idea of “music knows no boundaries”. After the performances, Chinese students played games together with American students and their laughter and cheers pushed the exchange event to the climax. Upon departure, the president of Punahou School said that the exchange performances and interactions with Chinese students were unforgettable. |
