Wang Luning, Vice Chairwoman and Secretary of Party Leadership Group of China Welfare Institute, was the Director of the troupe for the performances, and Chen Baihua, Director of CWI Children’s Palace and Director of Little Companion Art Troupe, was the Art Director. 2012 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany. The performances given by the Little Companion Art Troupe of CWI Children’s Palace in Germany upon the invitation of the municipal government of Frankfurtplayed a big role in the friendly exchange between the two countries. It is a full house that evening at the Worms Culture & Conference Center. The performances started with a dance called “Jasmine Flower” which was a classic specially rearranged for this event and combined the cultural elements of the two countries. The small dancers imitated the blossoming of jasmine flower as well as flying white pigeons, expressing a wish for the development of friendship between Chinese and German people. The audiences were immersed in Chinese culture during the 90-minute special performances featuring dances, Chinese musical instruments, vocal music, Chinese calligraphy, and paper-cutting, etc. designed to promote the Chinese culture. A notable performance is the “Charm of Jiangnan”, featuring Chinese musical instruments, Chinese calligraphy, and paper-cutting. In the accompaniments of Erhu (Chinese violin), flute andguzheng (Chinese zither), the 8-year-old child He Xinyan, the youngest of all performers, cut out a magpie and plum blossoms in less than 3 and a half minutes, and the child Cui Shuning wrote two Chinese characters “Lan Xin” in neat Chinese calligraphy, with the implied meaning of lasting China-Germany friendship. When the little performers gave their works as gifts to German friends, the audience burst into jubilation. As little art ambassador, the Little Companion Art Troupe took part in the promotion of trip to the “Silk Road” held in Germany by National Tourism Administration of China, and their performances were one of the highlights of the promotion. The Art Troupe also had art exchanges with the German students in local model secondary schools. |
