| On December 9, at the invitation of China Welfare Institute (CWI), a delegation of the vice president of business and the head of the Enrollment Office of Wesleyan Female College, the assistant to the president of First Presbyterian Day School, a top-class private school in Georgia, and the president of Stratford School from the US came to Shanghai for a visit. During their stay in Shanghai, the delegation visited CWI Soong Ching Ling School, the International Division of Shanghai High School and No. 2 High School affiliated to East China Normal University.  During the visit to Soong Ching Ling School, the delegation observed a whole class of English lesson for grade-two students of the International Division. Sitting together with the students and listening to the teacher, the guests enjoyed the innovative approach of teaching, which stimulated the passion of the kids to learn, and experienced the charming of multi-culture convergence. In meeting with their Chinese and foreign counterparts of the School, the presidents of the two American schools introduced their own schools respectively, covering basic information, admission requirements, curriculum, and cross-national programs that have been launched, expecting cooperation with Soong Ching Ling School in terms of faulty training and student exchange. They also hoped that the students of Soong Ching Ling School could pursue their high school education in the US.  Feng Lirong, the president of Soong Ching Ling School, expressed gratitude to the delegation. She said that the suggestions of the American counterparts would be adopted in the overall planning for the development and construction of the School. In her opinion, the exchange and mutual-visit between the Chinese and American schools would facilitate them to learn from each other, beneficial to the students and teachers on both sides. As the first institute of higher education issuing academic degrees to female students in the US, Wesleyan Female College is the cradle of leaders in different regions, countries and international organizations. The famous Soong sisters all studied in Wesleyan Female College which indicates a close connection with China Welfare Institute. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Soong Ching Ling’s graduation, Wang Luning, Vice Chairwoman of CWI, leading the delegation of Soong Ching Ling School, visited Wesleyan Female College this September and delivered a speech to all students and faculties at the new-term opening ceremony. During the stay in the US, the delegation of China Welfare Institute visited First Presbyterian Day School and Stratford School and discussed about cooperation after initial contact and communication.The visit of the US delegation promoted the cooperation intention of both sides, which will further promote the development of Soong Ching Ling School of CWI. |
