| Collaboration and Friendship between Soong Ching Ling School and Shanghai Japnese School |

150 Grade five friends from Shanghai Japanese School, Hongqiao Campus, visited Soong Ching Ling School on November 23. They were paired with 6 classes of our 5th graders, and they had lots of collaborative and fun activities together.
The opening ceremony was held in the gym. Students from both schools sang songs and played warm-up games. Principals from both schools had wonderful and encouraging talks about this traditional activitiy held each year at both schools.
The students had wonderful science, art, math and music lessons together, such as “ Making Magic Paper Planes”, “ Bag Painting”, “ Ukulele and Hawaiian Music”, “ Portrait Quilt Making”, “ Math Fun” and“Parachute Testing”. Exploring new knowledge, grasping new skills, making new friends, showing respect and love happened so naturally among the students even though they spoke different languages.
The children of China and Japan showed their diversity, tolerance, sharing and understanding in today's activities. It was a precious gift that this activity gave each child. The seeds of love sown in each child's heart will certainly grow in the future. This great activity promoted the world of love and peace. |
