| The teacher’s instructions are the key to the success of the musical activity. Since learning with the master teacher, I have been deeply impressed by Mrs. Cao’s incisive instructions in the activities. Her instructions are not only interesting and humorous, but also concise and simple with key points and difficult points definitely extracted. For example, when Mrs. Cao taught the song Quack-quack of Duckling, she instructed the kids to use staccato and light tone to sing the “Putong Putong” (the sound that ducklings plump into the pond) in saying, “The duckling is a master diver. When she jumps to the water, the spray is very small. Let’s have a try. ” With Mrs. Cao’s vivid description, soon the kids were able to sing the light staccato. When the kids sang wonderfully, she praised them by saying, “All of you now are the champion in diving.” In this way, the kids’ enthusiasm in singing would be raised. Another example is that when teaching the children the song “Draw a Picture of Mom”, Mrs. Cao compared the onomatopoeia “Mili” to playing a trumpet. After understanding the lyrics, naturally the kids felt the mood of happiness. Compared with the instructions of master teachers, I feel that there are a lot for me to learn. With the winding-up of this activity, Mrs. Cao joked that she saw a police director arranging the task while I was teaching. Although it was just a joke, I had a deep thought and found that there were really some problems with my instructions. “First you should do in this way, then you should act like that and you should pay attention to some points.” My expressions are complicated and long, and it is very hard to put them into practice. Although I said a lot, the kids were not able to get through the points. In the future practice, I will enhance my teaching quality by improving the instructions first. Firstly, I will identify the specific problems and correspondingly instruct them. In the activities, I used to guide or instruct the kids according to my experiences, but the instructions usually cannot solve the practical problems effectively. This is to say that I should let the kids experience by themselves in the first place, and I summarize and improve latter. Then, as for the difficulties in the activities, I should be fully prepared before the class and make a full preparation of my questions and instructions. Furthermore, I should cultivate my sense of humor. Maybe it is due to the character, I always feel that I am not a person of humor and always speak in a mechanical manner. I am too serious and lack a sense of humor. For this aspect, I think as long as I pay more attention to it in daily life, from the trivia, I believe the change will happen through efforts although it’s hard to change the character. |
