Stimulate the Children’s Creativity by virtue of Teacher’s Creativity-On the Creative Interaction with the Children in the Nursery Class

While visiting the “Yile Creativity”, I got the gem to use the simple materials to display the uniqueness.

Simple materials refer to those we usually don’t pay attention to such as the undecorated cups, plates, bottles, paper and ropes. There were also some articles we might discard as litter, such as waste electric appliances, used pictorial paper, used toys and all kinds of glass bottles. However, in “Yile Creativity” team, those readily available materials became works of art through recombination or simple “processing”.

Uniqueness display means the articles are displayed in the areas defined on the basis of materials so as to impress people, such as the materials of mosaic, paper pulp, glass bottle, wood and cloth. The display of their works was very creative and eye-catching, for example, dozens of small medicine bottles with various colors painted or simple stripes drawn on them were hung them on the beam; the discarded wood bricks were drawn pictures and linked to be a door curtain; a small ball was wrapped with rags and hung on the roof to looked like a spaceman, and the waste electric appliances were recombined properly on the wall to be a picture of tools. With all those creative stuffs, the whole wall and space seemed to be talking.

Considering my working experience, I view their varied application of materials and the uniqueness of display is worth learning for our teachers of nursery class.

  1. Provide the Materials Based on the Characteristics of Children’s Ages in the Nursery Class

The children in the nursery class love repetition and something that usually the adults don’t allow them to do. In accordance with the theme of the activity, we provided varied materials in the areas, such as scissors, handmade paper of different colors, plastic paper slips, pleading paper, sticky notes, color paste paints, drawing books, paper of different shapes, CDs, empty nursing bottles and other materials that children could use for handworks. With these materials, the children made flowers, grass. In this way, varied spring scenery was born from children’s hands. In the process of creating handworks with all kinds of materials, the children were able to express themselves boldly. Their interest of practice was stimulated for many times.

  2. Display the Children’s Works Creatively

Even if the children have strong interest of practice and the desire to express, without attention and protection, perhaps as time flies their interest and desire will be faded or the confidence will disappear.

First, it’s very important to display the children’s works.

While there were more and more flowers cut out by the children, we designed the courseware about “door curtain” to encourage the children to line up the flowers for the making of the “flower door curtain” which is practical and enable the children to sense the success and improve the self-confidence in the process of application.

Second, display the children’s works according to the material categories

The children’s works are displayed according to different categories so as to make it easy for them to appreciate their partners’ works and introduce their own. “Grandpa, look! This is the vase I made. Is it beautiful?” “This is the flower I drew on the Teletubbies (video disc), Have a look”… when the parents came to the classroom to pick up the children, the children were not in a hurry to go back home. Instead, they pulled the parents’ hands and pointed to the “vases” on the desk and the disc propped by clips to invite their parents to have a look.

Most importantly, with the teacher’s post assistance for the children, their works are displayed in a creative way and therefore the beauty of the works is projecting.

Unlike the children in the senior classes, children in the nursery class cannot make the refined works, and their works are usually scattered without purpose. At this time, it requires the teachers to pay attention and display the children’s works creatively to show the beauty of the works.

For example, the same paste paintings will display different effects on different materials, such as on the disc, on the plastic bottle and so on. For the children, the practices are the same, but the effects and forms are totally different.
